We are entering the peak of summer with July 4th approaching this holiday weekend, and there is no better time to talk about sunglasses! If you have been reading my posts about cataracts, you know that wearing UV protection is not only essential for protecting your skin, but also the health of your eyes. Luckily there are plenty of stylish options out there for your ocular protection. So what is this summer’s biggest style trend?

Retro looks have been dominating the fashion seen for several years now. Summer 2011 is seeing those Aviators and throw-back Ray Ban Wayfarers beginning to be replaced by another retro trend: the cat-eye. First popularized in the 50s and 60s, the cat-eye sunglasses of this summer’s top designers are slightly larger (to continue the over-sized trends we have been seeing for almost a decade now) and brimming with bright colors and designs.
